Review The guitar solo from Anonymous II should be ranked among the best guitar solos ever recorded. Akkerman's note choices, his perfectly placed dissonance and sheer stamina are staggering, to say the least. One could spend a lifetime studying the stuff that literally comes off the top of his head. As a young teenager it inspired me to abandon the violin, which I had studied since age 9, and to beg my parents for a black Les Paul. I happily settled for an Ibanez PF-300, which I still own to this day. Only one other guitarist has ever touched, inspired and amazed me to such a degree that it changed my entire musical outlook, and that was Frank Zappa. |

Review With so much 'disposable' music around these days it's a real comfort to have quality albums like this one to fall back on.Like most early Focus albums it's exciting, original and captures brilliant performances from musicians of the highest calibre. |

Review Focus III -- Twenty years on and there is nothing to match it. Exceptionally tight Classical Jazz Rock. I was fortunate to witness it live at the Rainbow on 5 May 1973 --- equalled, if not bettered the studio recording !! Would love to see Jan Akkerman back playing with Thijs again. |

Review Focus music works as a nice vibrant speech about the state of the (pop/rock) art and my favorite LP "Focus III" is a album without added flavourings nor preservatives, seducing for its simplicity. It is fabulous!! |
